Face Coverings

The State of California and Humboldt County have made it mandatory to wear a face mask while riding transit.

Passengers cannot ride Humboldt Transit Authority (HTA) buses without a face mask unless medically exempt. All individuals in Humboldt County are required to wear protective face masks in accordance with the California Department of Public Health Guidelines wherever they may come in contact with or less than six feet away from non-household members in both public and private places. This requirement includes all public spaces, including when riding public transportation, and particularly when those locations are indoor or in other areas where physical distancing is not possible.

If you have a medical condition and your medical provider has instructed you not to wear a face  mask (over mouth and nose), these individuals are instructed to wear a full-face shield. These individuals are also required to complete the HTA Reasonable Modification/ Grievance Form before the request is granted.
