Passes
Contactless Tap-to-Pay System
Pay for fares with your contactless credit or debit (Visa or Mastercard) card, or payment enabled device.
- No bus ticket needed!
- When using the same payment card, enjoy automatic fare capping equal to our Day, Week, and Month Pass rates.
- Reduced fares are not eligible with this payment method.

Regional Transit Passes
Single Ride, Day, Week, and Month passes are accepted on all Ride Humboldt Fixed Route Systems. They are not accepted on any Ride Humboldt Demand Response Systems.
Stored Value passes ($10 or $20) are accepted on all Ride Humboldt Fixed Route Systems, and on Dial-A-Ride. They are not accepted on Flex microtransit.
Ride Humboldt Systems
The Ride Humboldt Fixed Route Systems are:
- Redwood Transit Service (RTS)
- Eureka Transit Service (ETS)
- Willow Creek (WC)
- Southern Humboldt (SH)
- North State Express: Route 101 (NSE) [This system was formerly called Redwood Coast Express]
- Arcata & Mad River Transit System (A&MRTS)
The Ride Humboldt Demand Response Systems are:
- Dial-A-Ride
- Flex microtransit
Ticket Exclusions may apply.

Day, Week, & Month Passes
Day, Week, & Month Passes are valid for unlimited rides until the date and time of expiration printed on the back of the pass. Each time you wish to use the pass after purchasing it, simply swipe it through the card reader. When you hear a beep the pass is recognized as valid and you may proceed to board the bus.
- These passes work on all routes except Dial-A-Ride or Flex microtransit.
- Reduced fares are not eligible with these passes.
Stored Value/Multi-Ride Passes ($10 or $20)
Insert the pass when you board and the value of each ride will be deducted. The amount deducted will be either:
- $2 (all rides unless eligible for a reduced fare)
- $1 (all rides if eligible for a reduced fare)
This is the only pass eligible for reduced fares. Let your driver know if you are entitled to a reduced fare before your insert your pass.
Reduced Fare Eligibility Requirements:
- Seniors Aged 62+
- Youth Aged 3-17
- People with a disabled person Transit ID Card
These passes work on all routes except Flex microtransit.
Transfers
Free transfers are only provided between ETS routes for a single trip. No inter-agency transfers are available.
Tell the driver you want a transfer when you board the bus. You can only get a transfer upon boarding.
To use a transfer when you board a bus on another route simply insert it into the card reader. When you hear a beep the transfer is recognized as valid and you may proceed to board the bus.
Purchasing Passes
Purchase passes anytime and anywhere on your phone using the Token Transit app! Pay with your credit, debit, or commuter benefits card and always have your pass with you.
You can also purchase passes at the HTA online store with a credit card and have them mailed to you.
Bus drivers sell passes on the bus, but only cash is accepted. You must have the exact amount as the drivers do not provide change. Important note: If you are not paying a cash fare do not put your money in the farebox until you tell the driver what you want to buy. You will not be refunded for money placed in farebox accidently.
Passes can also be purchased at the Humboldt Transit Authority office at 133 V Street in Eureka using cash, Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card, or a personal check.
Cal Poly Humboldt Student and Staff ID
Cal Poly Humboldt students , faculty, and staff can ride A&MRTS, RTS, ETS, and Willow Creek using their ID cards (Southern Humboldt, North State Express, Flex microtransit, and Dial-A-Ride routes are not included)!
Students: Just show and swipe your current student ID when you board. All of your rides are free!
Staff & Faculty: you can buy into the Jack Pass ID program for $60 per semester. Get more info from HSU Parking & Commuter Services.
